The Journey
Over the last 4-5 years my artwork has been in transition.
Back in 2016 I held a solo exhibition, Restructuring: Color and Line, sharing the final 30 (out of 200) artworks in my Structures series. I was bored with the series and all of the thin lines and it needed to come to an end.
I spend some time exploring abstracted landscapes, which sadly didn’t quite hold my attention. And so then the hunt was on – what was next?
As I played around with elevating shape instead of line there were times I was tempted to fall back into the safety and familiarity of my Structures series. It would have been the easy solution. Problem was I didn’t feel challenged. It felt like the lazy solution to go back. So I kept exploring.
Finally in 2017 I did a project that was the kindling needed for the next phase of my career. In creating 100 small textile tiles exploring mark making, I reconnected with a skill I learned back in the late 90s – that of making marks on fabric with textile paint.

I spent a few years of exploring black and white work in this style and then last year I explored taking my ideas forward into my full color work.
My Path Became Clear
I am officially smitten.
I’m challenged. I’m excited. And I am learning and growing.
I’m at the beginning of what I anticipate to be a couple of long running series with much learning and development along the way.
Looking forward to our new decade – I will bring everything I learned from the Structures series with me as I explore the magic of adding mark making to my compositions.
