Kapiti Island and the I-pad – A 100 Day Project – Beginnings

100 Days Again?

It’s time for yet another 100 days project. And yes – I said I would never do this again. And then Aotearoa Quilters (the New Zealand National Quilt Organization) decided to run a 100 day project so I thought I’d join in for the community. They are a good group doing good things for New Zealand.

My plan (2 months ago) was this…

I wasn’t going to do art – I was going to do a project around habits. I made this cool graphic, posted it to instagram and started making plans for what I was going to do and how I would use a visual tracker to see my patterns.

And after 2 months of lockdown, I’m not in the right frame of mind for such a structured project. Thanks – but I’m having chocolate cake for breakfast if I want and I don’t need to feel bad about that right now.

So I’m on to plan B.

I signed up to take an art on the ipad course with Susie Monday and this is going to help me stay focused on the course and put to use what I am learning. I know – brilliant – accountability for what is essentially a self paced course.

My Project

My project is to use my ipad to explore digital art. I will use the same image each day and create a digital artwork based on that image.

The image I selected is a photo of Kapiti Island that was taken on my iphone last year, while walking the Escarpment Track.

This is the image:

Kapiti Island, New Zealand

As usual I have no plans on worrying about doing this every single day – chances are I’ll do multiple in a single day and skip some days and in the end – I will have 100 digital artworks featuring Kapiti Island.

Days 1-3

Day 1 – Kapiti Colors
Day 2 – Kapiti in watercolor
Day 3 – are you in your bubble?

* If you want to know which apps I’m using, etc – please take Susie’s course.
