A Place to Make Art in New Zealand
If you don’t subscribe to my studio newsletter you may have missed my news last week…
I’ve decided to stay on in New Zealand – providing the government will happily give me a work to residence visa – which I’m assuming they will want to – right!?
[For you non-subscribers – you can read my May Studio Newsletter to catch up on that bit of gossip here: The One Where She Wants to Stay in New Zealand – and subscribe here – Lisa’s Studio News – so you don’t miss out on any more big news.]
So here I am – in Wellington (or more precisely in Lower Hutt) – setting up a studio. Yesterday was exciting as the main design wall went up on the wall. Yay!! It is starting to feel like a studio!
A photo tour of how things are going…

The Dye Studio
The first order of business in making my art is to create my palette of colors.
And that means dyeing fabric.
I’m currently living in the office of a former hotel – this area is where the industrial washer/dryer used to be. Not super fancy but I can pretty much dye fabric anywhere I can get a hold of some hot water.

The fabric is still in the washer…. I’ll let you know how it turns out!
