Work

These galleries represent a selection of work from more than 1000 textile paintings Lisa Call has made over a twenty-year career.

Each series begins with a question about how we make sense of our lives — memory, connection, distraction, place — and is realised visually through her language of pattern, colour, and geometry

The works are constructed from hand-dyed fabric, cut and composed into abstract arrangements, then layered with dense machine stitching that adds texture and depth to the surface. Some series incorporate painted marks that push the surface further. Scale ranges from small works to large-scale pieces exceeding two metres.

Widely exhibited across New Zealand, the United States, Europe, and Asia, the award-winning work is held in institutional and private collections internationally.
