I Needed Some Rest
It is a lot of work participating in a weekend fine art show. Pulling together a collection of new work, prepping and packing and then a full on weekend talking with art lovers.
I love doing these shows. And after ten years of shows in the USA and New Zealand, I needed a break. Which is why I took 2023 off. No shows, almost no exhibiting.
Gave me time to focus on some artwork for the sake of art and not for the sake of selling. And it gave me lots of time to think and plan.
Getting Ready for Art in the Park
I’m now refreshed and ready to go and looking forward to exhibition at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand in September.
Today I did a major studio clean up and organized all the work I have in progress so I can get a clear plan on what I need to focus on over the next few months.
I gathered all the small works and put them together on a single design wall (as you can see in the image above.)
There is heaps of color and are pieces spanning four different series in progress:
- Structures
- Geometry of Distraction
- Travel Patterns
- Great Walks (more information about this new series coming soon)
Now that I have the physical work corralled – it was time to make a plan.
I love a good checklist to keep me motivated so I created the following document in my sketchbook to keep track of my progress.
By the time September rolls around this page should be full of checkmarks with all the work completed.
