Learn From Me

“Lisa Call’s Abstraction workshop has been the best online class that I have ever taken. Not only is the class professionally presented but the content and feedback provided by Lisa have been excellent.”

My Intention

I have created over 350 textile paintings in the past 10 years, using the techniques, exercises and studio methodology I teach in my workshops.

In addition to my art concepts and techniques, we will be dipping into some of the mindsets and motivation topics that I speak about on makebigart.com (which will return in 2015).

Although we focus on creating art, I believe in teaching to the whole artist, not just your sewing machine or paint brush.

My intention is to provide students with the vocabulary and tools they will need to go back to their studios with their own ideas and move forward with confidence.

I love teaching.

Early in my life I worked on completing my PhD in computer science so I could become a professor.  I wasn’t excited about the research aspect of that job.  I was instead

While I didn’t quite jump through enough hoops for my PhD I did gain some wonderful experience teaching at a university.

I’m now very happily teaching art and art business workshops.  I offer both in person and online learning opportunities.

In 2014 I became a Co-Active® trained life coach and will become a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach® (CPCC) in 2015.

The addition of coaching skills into my teaching curriculum allows my students to make meaningful, significant and lasting life changes in both their studio practices and in their lives.

“What I found in Lisa’s course was so far beyond my expectations that I can only say it has truly changed my life and the way I approach my art.  Lisa not only covered abstract art and design principles, she provided me with information that lead me to evaluate and change how I manage my studio time, my design process and in some ways my life.  The course was applicable to my textile medium and it challenged me to develop new practices. I now look forward to spending time in my studio each evening, No more creative slump. The course and Lisa helped me examine my thoughts and attitudes as well as my art.  And I worked really hard for ten weeks!!!!! “

You can see samples of former students work and read their thoughts on my workshops on my alumni directory.

For my artist bio and resume see here.

I’ve compiled a list of publications, where you can read and learn about my techniques and mindsets for those times when an interactive workshop isn’t a good fit for you at this time.

I look forward to working with you!
